Polyester Geogrid Width Edge Trimming Blades
Width edge trimming removes a side margin from polyester geogrid roll stock. Define the retained aperture row or bundle line, strength direction and final-width datum before trial. The offcut may snag because of grid geometry even when the kept edge passes, while a stable offcut does not prove that the retained bundle and coating are undamaged.

Where This Cutting Application Appears
Actual supplied workpiece
Identify the actual polyester geogrid construction, strength direction, aperture, yarn bundle and coating before trial. Maccaferri describes one Synteen example as high-tenacity multifilament polyester yarns woven into a stable network and PVC-coated; that example does not define every PET geogrid or a MEIRENTE knife specification.
Installed cutting setup
Record incoming grid alignment, retained-row datum, trim allowance, local support, holder and offcut route.
Cut output and inspection stage
Measure final width from the agreed grid datum and inspect the retained bundle, junctions, coating and roll edge before and after winding.
Width Edge Trimming process boundary
These pages concern controlled factory conversion of supplied grid roll stock. They do not change the project reinforcement design, design strength, roll orientation, overlap or installation quality plan. Keep machine and cross-machine directions traceable on every sample.
Width Edge Trimming setup checkpoint
Mark material direction, retained sides and the construction-specific datum before the controlled trial.
Width Edge Trimming acceptance checkpoint
Approve a replacement only from the original tool, holder drawing and a controlled trial on the supplied grade.
Define the Required Cut Result
- Measure retained width from the named aperture or edge datum
- Inspect the kept bundle and junctions for splay, nicking and coating loss
- Check aperture pattern and roll edge before and after rewind
- Record offcut snagging separately from retained-edge defects
Problems to Diagnose Before Changing the Knife
The offcut snags while the retained grid line remains acceptable
Review trim geometry and collection route separately from retained-edge limits.
A retained bundle splays or loses coating at one station
Compare kept-side support, tool contact, holder runout and cut-line location.
Final width shifts by an aperture row
Separate incoming grid wander, guide response and trim-station position.
polyester geogrid Width Edge Trimming Diagnostic
Separate supplied construction, material direction, installed contact and downstream handling before changing a knife form.

Acceptance Criteria for a Controlled Trial
Agree how the trial will be judged before changing the knife or machine setting.
- Measure retained width from the named aperture or edge datum
- Inspect the kept bundle and junctions for splay, nicking and coating loss
- Check aperture pattern and roll edge before and after rewind
- Record offcut snagging separately from retained-edge defects
Knife Forms That May Be Considered
| Possible knife form | When it may be considered | What must be confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Installed supported shear edge trim | Only where the station supports the specified grid and protects the retained bundle. | Confirm pair geometry, holder and kept-edge sample. |
| Guided straight edge trimmer | Only where the supported path and offcut route suit the aperture and coating. | Confirm kept-side contact, grid tracking and waste control. |

Questions About This Cutting Application
Can a knife be selected from the term polyester geogrid alone?
No. Confirm the exact grade, construction, material direction, installed equipment, original tool and measurable acceptance limits.
Must the geogrid offcut run without snagging?
Waste handling has its own limit; approve the retained grid to separate criteria.
Why name the retained row?
It fixes the functional edge and prevents a one-aperture shift from passing as a width change alone.

These public sources provide material, cutting-method or safety context for this guide. Supplier pages describe their own materials or equipment; they do not establish a MEIRENTE blade specification or performance claim.
