Geocell Strip Width Edge Trimming Blades
Width edge trimming removes a controlled margin from roll-form geocell strip or parent web before cellular-section fabrication. Mark the retained side and future junction edge before trial. The narrow offcut can break while the kept strip remains acceptable, or waste can run continuously while the retained welding or bonding zone is notched or marked; record those outcomes separately.

Where This Cutting Application Appears
Actual supplied workpiece
Confirm that the supplied workpiece is roll-form polymer strip or parent web before geocell section fabrication. Presto describes one GEOWEB example as textured, perforated HDPE strips bonded together into interconnected cells; that example shows why polymer, texture, perforation and fabrication sequence must be identified, not a universal MEIRENTE specification.
Installed cutting setup
Record incoming-edge wander, retained-side datum, trim allowance, future junction zone, support, holder and offcut route.
Cut output and inspection stage
Measure final strip width and inspect the kept edge, surface features and junction zone before and after winding.
Width Edge Trimming process boundary
These pages concern factory preparation of strip before welding or bonding it into an expandable geocell section. They do not apply to cutting a completed welded geocell panel, selecting a cell depth, designing a confinement system or approving field installation. Record which surfaces and edge zones enter the later strip-junction process.
Width Edge Trimming setup checkpoint
Mark material direction, retained layers or edges and downstream functional zones before the controlled trial.
Width Edge Trimming acceptance checkpoint
Approve a replacement only from the original tool, holder drawing and a controlled trial on the supplied construction.
Define the Required Cut Result
- Measure retained strip width at marked intervals
- Inspect the kept edge for notch, burr, tearing and feature damage
- Check the future junction zone before and after winding
- Record offcut breaks separately from retained-edge defects
Problems to Diagnose Before Changing the Knife
The offcut breaks while the retained strip remains acceptable
Review trim width and collection route independently of retained-product limits.
Only the future junction edge shows a repeating notch
Compare kept-side support, tool contact and holder runout at that station.
Final strip width moves along the roll
Separate incoming-edge wander, guide response and trim-station position.
geocell manufacturing strip Width Edge Trimming Diagnostic
Separate supplied construction, installed contact and downstream fabrication or handling before changing a knife form.

Acceptance Criteria for a Controlled Trial
Agree how the trial will be judged before changing the knife or machine setting.

Knife Forms That May Be Considered
| Possible knife form | When it may be considered | What must be confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Installed supported shear edge trim | Only where the station supports the specified thickness, texture and perforation state. | Confirm pair geometry, holder and future junction-edge sample. |
| Guided fixed edge trimmer | Only where support, guarding and offcut path suit the actual strip. | Confirm kept-side contact, feature registration and waste control. |

Questions About This Cutting Application
Can a knife be selected from the term geocell manufacturing strip alone?
No. Confirm the exact construction, installed equipment, original tool and measurable acceptance limits.
Must the trim strip remain continuous?
No. Approve retained strip quality and waste handling to separate limits.
Why mark the future junction edge?
It identifies the edge that must remain suitable for later geocell section fabrication.
