HDPE Geomembrane Width Edge Trimming Blades
Width edge trimming removes a controlled side margin from HDPE geomembrane roll stock for an approved fabrication plan. Mark the retained side and any future seam allowance before trial. Judge the retained edge and seam zone separately from the narrow offcut, because waste continuity is not proof of product-edge quality.

Where This Cutting Application Appears
Actual supplied workpiece
Confirm the actual HDPE geomembrane grade, nominal thickness, smooth or textured surfaces, color, roll direction and any conductive or other specified layer. Solmax lists smooth and rough GSE HD variants; those examples do not establish every customer roll or a MEIRENTE knife specification.
Installed cutting setup
Record incoming-edge position, retained-side datum, trim allowance, support, holder and offcut collection.
Cut output and inspection stage
Measure final width and inspect the retained edge, face and future seam zone before and after winding.
Width Edge Trimming process boundary
These pages address factory or controlled converting of supplied HDPE geomembrane roll stock. They do not replace the project drawing, field panel layout, seam allowance, welding procedure, construction quality plan or site acceptance requirements.
Width Edge Trimming setup checkpoint
Mark retained sides, functional surfaces and downstream seal or seam zones before the controlled trial.
Width Edge Trimming acceptance checkpoint
Approve a replacement only from the original tool, holder drawing and a controlled trial on the supplied grade.
Define the Required Cut Result
- Measure retained width at marked roll intervals
- Inspect the kept edge for notch, burr and stretch whitening
- Check the future seam zone for scoring and contamination
- Record offcut breaks separately from retained-edge defects
Problems to Diagnose Before Changing the Knife
Offcut breaks while the retained edge remains acceptable
Review trim width and collection route independently of retained-product limits.
Only the retained edge develops repeating notches
Compare kept-side support, tool contact and holder runout.
Final width drifts along the roll
Separate incoming-edge wander, guide response and trim-station position.
HDPE geomembrane roll stock Width Edge Trimming Diagnostic
Separate incoming-material identity, installed contact and downstream handling before changing a knife form.

Acceptance Criteria for a Controlled Trial
Agree how the trial will be judged before changing the knife or machine setting.
- Measure retained width at marked roll intervals
- Inspect the kept edge for notch, burr and stretch whitening
- Check the future seam zone for scoring and contamination
- Record offcut breaks separately from retained-edge defects
Knife Forms That May Be Considered
| Possible knife form | When it may be considered | What must be confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Installed supported shear edge trim | Only where the station supports the specified thickness and face texture. | Confirm pair geometry, holder and retained-edge sample. |
| Guided fixed edge trimmer | Only where the actual support, guarding and waste path suit the HDPE roll. | Confirm kept-side contact and seam-zone protection. |

Questions About This Cutting Application
Can a knife be selected from the term HDPE geomembrane roll stock alone?
No. Confirm the exact grade, installed equipment, original tool and measurable acceptance limits.
Must the trim strip stay continuous?
No. Approve the retained edge and waste removal to separate limits.
Why include the seam allowance?
The retained edge may later enter a welded seam and must match the project plan.

These public sources provide material, cutting-method or safety context for this guide. Supplier pages describe their own materials or equipment; they do not establish a MEIRENTE blade specification or performance claim.
