Polypropylene Geotextile Roll Slitting Blades
Roll slitting divides supplied polypropylene geotextile into narrower rolls. First identify whether the grade is needle-punched nonwoven, woven monofilament, slit-film or another specified construction, because a clean edge and a relevant defect look different for each. Mark roll direction and both retained edges, then compare them before and after winding.

Where This Cutting Application Appears
Actual supplied workpiece
Identify the actual polypropylene geotextile construction before trial. TenCate describes its N-Series as nonwoven polypropylene geotextile, while other PP geotextiles may be woven monofilament, slit-film or another specified construction. That supplier example defines a possible workpiece, not a universal MEIRENTE knife specification.
Installed cutting setup
Record construction, basis weight, master-roll build, web guide, supported cut path, holder positions and daughter-roll tension.
Cut output and inspection stage
Measure every daughter roll and inspect both cut edges for loose fibers, displaced yarns, edge thickening or other customer-named defects before and after rewind.
Roll Slitting process boundary
These pages concern controlled factory conversion of supplied roll stock. They do not set the civil design, filtration criteria, overlap, seam, field-panel layout or installation acceptance. Record the maker, grade, woven or nonwoven construction, mass per unit area, roll direction and any bonded layer.
Roll Slitting setup checkpoint
Mark material direction, retained sides and the construction-specific datum before the controlled trial.
Roll Slitting acceptance checkpoint
Approve a replacement only from the original tool, holder drawing and a controlled trial on the supplied grade.
Define the Required Cut Result
- Measure every lane width at named roll positions
- Inspect both cut edges for loose fibers, yarn displacement and edge thickening
- Check daughter-roll build and edge condition before and after rewind
- Compare labelled samples using the customer-approved visual and dimensional method
Problems to Diagnose Before Changing the Knife
Lane width drifts while both cut edges remain consistent
Check incoming web position, guide response, tension and holder spacing before changing edge geometry.
Loose fibers or yarns appear on only one side of a slit
Compare retained-side support, tool contact, roll direction and the two sides of that station.
Edges pass at the cutter but distort in the finished roll
Inspect the same labelled lane before and after rewind to separate cutting from winding pressure or telescoping.
polypropylene geotextile Roll Slitting Diagnostic
Separate supplied construction, material direction, installed contact and downstream handling before changing a knife form.

Acceptance Criteria for a Controlled Trial
Agree how the trial will be judged before changing the knife or machine setting.

Knife Forms That May Be Considered
| Possible knife form | When it may be considered | What must be confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Installed supported shear-slitting pair | Only where the existing machine and pair support the actual woven or nonwoven construction. | Verify pair dimensions, overlap, side load, holder and samples from both retained edges. |
| Guided fixed slitter | Only if the installed web path, support and guarding suit the specified geotextile. | Verify holder, exposed edge, cut direction and fiber or yarn response. |

You do not need to know the exact blade name. Send the available workpiece, machine, current-knife and cut-result information so the application can be reviewed against a drawing or sample.
- Geotextile maker, grade and supplier data sheet
- Woven/nonwoven construction, polymer form and any bonded layer
- Basis weight, thickness if specified, roll direction and face marks
- Master-roll width, core, diameter and target lane widths
- Guide, support, holder and rewind drawings
- Original knife pair or holder dimensions and used samples
- Labelled accepted and rejected edges from both sides
- Width, loose-fiber/yarn, edge and roll-build limits plus trial length

Questions About This Cutting Application
Can a knife be selected from the term polypropylene geotextile alone?
No. Confirm the exact grade, construction, material direction, installed equipment, original tool and measurable acceptance limits.
Can one setup be assumed for woven and nonwoven PP geotextile?
No. Confirm the actual construction, installed machine, original tool and accepted edge sample.
Is daughter-roll width alone enough for approval?
No. Inspect both retained edges and the roll again after winding.
