HDPE Geomembrane Roll Slitting Blades
Roll slitting divides supplied HDPE geomembrane into narrower factory rolls for an approved fabrication plan. Confirm grade, thickness and whether either surface is textured before setting support and contact. Inspect both retained edges and the future seam zones; a straight roll edge can still contain a notch, scoring or deformation that the project acceptance plan rejects.

Where This Cutting Application Appears
Actual supplied workpiece
Confirm the actual HDPE geomembrane grade, nominal thickness, smooth or textured surfaces, color, roll direction and any conductive or other specified layer. Solmax lists smooth and rough GSE HD variants; those examples do not establish every customer roll or a MEIRENTE knife specification.
Installed cutting setup
Record master-roll build, smooth or textured faces, guide datum, supported slit path, holder and daughter-roll winding.
Cut output and inspection stage
Measure daughter-roll width and inspect both retained edges, faces and future seam zones before and after winding.
Roll Slitting process boundary
These pages address factory or controlled converting of supplied HDPE geomembrane roll stock. They do not replace the project drawing, field panel layout, seam allowance, welding procedure, construction quality plan or site acceptance requirements.
Roll Slitting setup checkpoint
Mark retained sides, functional surfaces and downstream seal or seam zones before the controlled trial.
Roll Slitting acceptance checkpoint
Approve a replacement only from the original tool, holder drawing and a controlled trial on the supplied grade.
Define the Required Cut Result
- Measure every daughter-roll width at named positions
- Inspect both retained edges for notches, burrs and stretch whitening
- Check future seam zones for scoring or contamination
- Compare winding, edge and face condition with approved roll samples
Problems to Diagnose Before Changing the Knife
Width drifts while both retained edges remain smooth
Check incoming web position, guide datum, tension and holder spacing.
A notch repeats on only one retained edge
Compare local support, tool contact and the affected side of the installed station.
Cut edges pass at the station but roll faces block or mark later
Separate cutting from winding pressure, temperature and face-to-face contact.

Separate incoming-material identity, installed contact and downstream handling before changing a knife form.

Acceptance Criteria for a Controlled Trial
Agree how the trial will be judged before changing the knife or machine setting.

- Check future seam zones for scoring or contamination
- Compare winding, edge and face condition with approved roll samples
Knife Forms That May Be Considered
| Possible knife form | When it may be considered | What must be confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Installed supported shear-slitting pair | Only where the existing machine supports the specified thickness and surface texture. | Verify pair dimensions, holder, both retained edges and seam-zone samples. |
| Guided fixed slitter | Only if the installed web path, support and guarding suit the actual HDPE roll. | Verify holder, exposed edge and face contact. |

Questions About This Cutting Application
Can a knife be selected from the term HDPE geomembrane roll stock alone?
No. Confirm the exact grade, installed equipment, original tool and measurable acceptance limits.
Can smooth and textured geomembranes use the same setup automatically?
No. Confirm the actual grade, faces, thickness, support and installed tool.
Does a straight edge prove it is ready for welding?
No. Inspect the specified seam zone to the project quality plan.
Public references and scope
These public sources provide material, cutting-method or safety context for this guide. Supplier pages describe their own materials or equipment; they do not establish a MEIRENTE blade specification or performance claim. Confirm the actual grade, machine setup and required cut with a drawing or sample.
