Questions About This Cutting Application
Why can the coating extend past the paperboard edge?
A ductile barrier layer may stretch while the fiber core fractures. Construction, temperature, support and cutting action should be compared together.
Should sheet size be checked immediately?
Use the customer's agreed conditioning and measurement timing because moisture and asymmetric coatings can change curl and apparent dimensions.
Can the knife form be selected from board thickness alone?
No. Cutting motion, support, web speed, layer construction and the existing equipment interface are also required.
What edge samples are useful for review?
Send accepted and rejected cuts showing fiber dust, coating tails, delamination and any variation across the web.
Does a cleaner cut guarantee reliable carton forming?
Not by itself. Squareness, coating integrity, curl and registration in printing, creasing and sealing must also be verified.
