Stone Wool Lamella Mat Edge Trimming Blades

Edge trimming lamella mat removes a narrow band while protecting the retained insulation edge. Mark the finished-edge datum, facing side and lamella direction. A fragmented offcut and separated segments on the kept piece are different results; inspect both after the mat is released from support.

Where This Cutting Application Appears

Supplied material and orientation

Confirm the actual stone-wool lamella grade, lamella and fiber direction, thickness, density, binder and any foil or other facing. Supply form may be a roll or pre-cut mat; do not infer it from the material name.

Installed cutting setup

Record trim allowance, support directly behind the kept edge and the offcut-removal path.

Output and downstream handling

Measure finished width and inspect retained segment ends, facing and narrow scrap separately.

Edge Trimming process boundary

This guide covers edge trimming of stone-wool lamella mat; it does not establish a universal blade format, machine setting or material performance claim.

Edge Trimming setup checkpoint

Mark facing side and lamella direction. Compare dust, segment separation and facing damage on incoming, at-cut and handled samples before attributing the defect to the knife.

Edge Trimming acceptance checkpoint

Compare direction-marked good and rejected material under the same measurement and handling sequence.

Define the Required Cut Result

  • Hold retained width after release
  • Limit lamella separation on the kept edge
  • Preserve facing continuity where required
  • Remove scrap without dragging fibers across the part

Problems to Diagnose Before Changing the Knife

Narrow scrap breaks into segments

Check trim allowance and offcut path before rejecting the kept edge.

Only the retained edge loses lamellae

Map support distance and contact against the same segment positions.

Facing tears along a clean wool edge

Review facing-side contact and cut direction separately.

Incoming material differs from the trial lot

Check the supplied grade, construction and incoming defects before attributing a changed result to the cutter.

Stone-Wool Lamella Mat Edge Trimming Diagnostic

Separate incoming construction, fixture support, blade contact and post-cut handling before selecting a replacement for edge trimming.

Narrow scrap breaks into segments

Check trim allowance and offcut path before rejecting the kept edge.

Only the retained edge loses lamellae

Map support distance and contact against the same segment positions.

Facing tears along a clean wool edge

Review facing-side contact and cut direction separately.

Acceptance Criteria for a Controlled Trial

Agree how the trial will be judged before changing the knife or machine setting.

  • Measure released retained width at marked points
  • Count separated lamellae over a defined kept-edge length
  • Inspect facing tears on the retained edge
  • Record offcut breakup and loose fibers separately from kept-part damage

Knife Forms That May Be Considered

Possible knife formWhen it may be consideredWhat must be confirmed
Guided straight trim bladeWhere the installed fixture supports retained segments next to the trim line.Confirm support, guide and holder drawing.
Circular shear edge-trim pairOnly if the actual machine controls mat and facing through rotary shear.Confirm overlap, side load and kept-edge condition.

Information to Send for Technical Review

You do not need to know the exact blade name. Send the available workpiece, machine, current-knife and cut-result information so the application can be reviewed against a drawing or sample.

  • Lamella direction, incoming size and trim allowance
  • Finished-edge datum and released-width tolerance
  • Support, guide and offcut-removal drawing
  • Current blade, holder and fixture drawings
  • Marked retained edge, offcut and rejected samples

Questions About This Cutting Application

Can a blade be selected from the term stone-wool lamella mat alone?

No. Check the supplied grade, actual machine interface, drawing and approved samples before specifying a component.

Does a broken offcut fail the retained mat?

No. Inspect the kept edge and debris control under separate criteria.

Why record lamella direction?

It affects how segments meet and are supported at the trim line.

Can facing damage be hidden by a clean wool edge?

Yes. Inspect the facing and wool edge separately.

Public references and scope

These public sources provide material, cutting-method or safety context for this guide. Supplier pages describe their own materials or equipment; they do not establish a MEIRENTE blade specification or performance claim. Confirm the actual grade, machine setup and required cut with a drawing or sample.
