Geocell Strip Transverse Cross Cutting Blades
Transverse cross cutting releases specified geocell manufacturing-strip lengths before the strips are welded or bonded into cellular sections. Mark texture, perforation state, strip direction and future junction edges, then number consecutive pieces. Measure released lengths and inspect both ends before transfer so later stacking or joining damage is not assigned to the cutoff tool.

Where This Cutting Application Appears
Actual supplied workpiece
Confirm that the supplied workpiece is roll-form polymer strip or parent web before geocell section fabrication. Presto describes one GEOWEB example as textured, perforated HDPE strips bonded together into interconnected cells; that example shows why polymer, texture, perforation and fabrication sequence must be identified, not a universal MEIRENTE specification.
Installed cutting setup
Record feed index, strip restraint, cross-cut support, installed stroke, surface contact and collection for the later joining step.
Cut output and inspection stage
Measure released length and squareness; inspect both ends, surface features and future junction zones before and after transfer.
Transverse Cross Cutting process boundary
These pages concern factory preparation of strip before welding or bonding it into an expandable geocell section. They do not apply to cutting a completed welded geocell panel, selecting a cell depth, designing a confinement system or approving field installation. Record which surfaces and edge zones enter the later strip-junction process.
Transverse Cross Cutting setup checkpoint
Mark material direction, retained layers or edges and downstream functional zones before the controlled trial.
Transverse Cross Cutting acceptance checkpoint
Approve a replacement only from the original tool, holder drawing and a controlled trial on the supplied construction.
Define the Required Cut Result
- Measure consecutive strip lengths, widths and diagonals
- Inspect both ends for full separation, notch and deformation
- Check texture, perforations and future junction zones for damage
- Compare numbered pieces before and after collection
Problems to Diagnose Before Changing the Knife
Released length varies although both ends separate
Measure physical feed travel, strip slip and reference-mark tracking.
An exit corner stretches, whitens or remains connected
Check exit-side support, full installed stroke and final-contact position.
Surface marks appear only after pieces are stacked
Compare numbered strips before and after transfer to locate handling contact.

Acceptance Criteria for a Controlled Trial
Agree how the trial will be judged before changing the knife or machine setting.

Knife Forms That May Be Considered
| Possible knife form | When it may be considered | What must be confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Supported straight cutoff | Only where the existing station restrains the specified strip across its full width. | Verify blade, holder, counter-surface, stroke and both end samples. |
| Synchronized rotary cutoff | Only for an installed continuous-feed station designed for the actual strip. | Verify timing, complete separation and dimensions over consecutive pieces. |

Questions About This Cutting Application
Can a knife be selected from the term geocell manufacturing strip alone?
No. Confirm the exact construction, installed equipment, original tool and measurable acceptance limits.
Why inspect the future junction zone?
The released strip must still be suitable for the specified welding or bonding operation.
Does a complete cross cut prove the strip is accepted?
No. Verify released dimensions, both ends, surface features and handling condition.
