Drainage Composite Roll Slitting Blades
Roll slitting divides supplied geocomposite drainage material into narrower rolls. Identify the core geometry, one- or two-sided facing, facing construction and bond pattern before trial. Inspect each retained multilayer edge and core channel before and after rewind; an even roll width is not enough if the facing lifts, the core is crushed or daughter-roll pressure changes the edge.

Where This Cutting Application Appears
Actual supplied workpiece
Identify the actual drainage-composite layer stack before trial. TenCate describes G-Series examples with a high-compressive-strength core and nonwoven polypropylene geotextile bonded to one or both sides, plus a woven option. That example does not define every core geometry, facing, bond pattern or MEIRENTE knife specification.
Installed cutting setup
Record layer stack, core and facing directions, bond pattern, guide datum, supported cut path, holder and daughter-roll winding.
Cut output and inspection stage
Measure every daughter roll and inspect both multilayer edges, facing bonds, core channels and roll build before and after winding.
Roll Slitting process boundary
These pages concern controlled factory conversion of supplied drainage-composite roll stock. They do not set drainage design capacity, project dimensions, overlap, seam, outlet detail, installation method or field acceptance. Keep core direction, facing side and any specified bond-free or connection zone traceable.
Roll Slitting setup checkpoint
Mark material direction, retained layers or edges and downstream functional zones before the controlled trial.
Roll Slitting acceptance checkpoint
Approve a replacement only from the original tool, holder drawing and a controlled trial on the supplied construction.
Define the Required Cut Result
- Measure every daughter-roll width at named positions
- Inspect both edges for facing lift, loose fibers and incomplete core separation
- Check retained core channels before and after rewind
- Compare roll build and multilayer edge condition with labelled approved samples
Problems to Diagnose Before Changing the Knife
Lane width drifts while the composite edges remain consistent
Check incoming web position, guide response, tension and holder spacing.
Facing lifts from the core on only one cut side
Compare bond pattern, local support, tool contact and layer orientation on both sides.
Core edges pass at the cutter but flatten in the finished roll
Compare labelled samples before and after winding to separate cutting from roll pressure.
geocomposite drainage roll Roll Slitting Diagnostic
Separate supplied construction, installed contact and downstream fabrication or handling before changing a knife form.

Acceptance Criteria for a Controlled Trial
Agree how the trial will be judged before changing the knife or machine setting.

Knife Forms That May Be Considered
| Possible knife form | When it may be considered | What must be confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Installed supported shear-slitting pair | Only where the existing pair supports the actual core and facing stack without harmful compression. | Verify pair dimensions, holder, both retained edges and core-channel samples. |
| Guided fixed slitter | Only if the installed path, guarding and support suit the supplied composite. | Verify mounting, exposed edge, facing contact and winding path. |

Questions About This Cutting Application
Can a knife be selected from the term geocomposite drainage roll alone?
No. Confirm the exact construction, installed equipment, original tool and measurable acceptance limits.
Can one tool setup be assumed for all drainage composites?
No. Confirm the actual core, facing, bond pattern, installed machine and accepted edge sample.
Is width enough to approve a daughter roll?
No. Inspect the facing bonds, multilayer edge, core channels and roll after winding.
