Discarded Fishing Net Granulating Blades
Use granulating for a defined secondary, screen-controlled stage after large tangles and prohibited attachments have been removed. State the polymer stream, incoming piece size and downstream washing, density sorting or reprocessing objective.

Where This Cutting Application Appears
Supplied feed and process stage
Identify the actual recovered gear rather than treating it as one polymer stream. Record net, line and rope construction; declared polymer; twine diameter; knot or braid; float, sinker, hook, cable and metal content; salt, sand, biological residue and moisture; collection method; and any prior sorting or washing. NOAA describes derelict gear as including synthetic nylon, polyethylene and polypropylene and documents collected nets being chopped in one recovery route; this does not define the customer feed or a MEIRENTE tool.
Installed process checkpoint
Record prepared-feed length, twine and knot geometry, moisture and contamination; map rotor and bed knives, clearance, screen, recirculation, air or water separation and discharge.
Output and inspection stage
Measure every retained size fraction, oversize and fines; inspect stringers, knot-rich pieces, wrapping, screen loading, sand or salt deposits and metal damage.
Granulating process boundary
Confirm that the feed form, actual machine operation and named downstream step match this process before reviewing a replacement tool.
Granulating setup checkpoint
Record feed preparation, foreign-material controls, installed interface and discharge before a controlled trial.
Granulating acceptance checkpoint
Use customer-approved size distribution and observable defect limits on labelled samples from the same feed lot and machine settings.
Define the Required Cut Result
- Report the complete screened output distribution
- Count stringers, oversize knots and wrapping events by feed construction
- Record fines, screen loading and contamination deposits separately
- Evaluate the named downstream washing or separation step on the same trial lot
Problems to Diagnose Before Changing the Knife
Stringers circulate while smaller fibres become fines
Compare incoming strand length, cutter clearance, screen, residence time and discharge.
Knots or braided rope remain oversize
Map construction and diameter against cutter engagement instead of averaging them with net mesh.
Sand, salt or hidden metal changes wear or clearance
Separate cleaning and foreign-material control from knife-condition findings.

Acceptance Criteria for a Controlled Trial
Agree how the trial will be judged before changing the knife or machine setting.

Knife Forms That May Be Considered
| Possible knife form | When it may be considered | What must be confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Existing granulator rotor and bed-knife arrangement | For sorted net feed already prepared to the machine limit. | Confirm seats, knife count, clearance, screen, feed control and cleaning access. |
| Existing secondary shear cutter | Only where the process uses a shear stage before screening. | Confirm cutter and counter-tool relationship, strand restraint, guarding and discharge. |

Questions About This Cutting Application
Can a blade form be selected from the term “discarded fishing net” alone?
No. Confirm feed origin, construction, contamination, process stage, installed interface, current tool and accepted and rejected samples.
Can tangled collected gear feed a granulator directly?
Do not assume so. Large masses and attachments normally require classification and preparation first.
Is nominal screen size the only acceptance criterion?
No. Stringers, fines, wrapping and downstream handling also matter.
Public references and scope

Supplier pages describe their own materials or equipment; they do not establish a MEIRENTE blade specification or performance claim. Confirm the actual grade, machine setup and required cut with a drawing or sample.
