Discarded Fishing Net Pre-Shredding Blades
Use pre-shredding for the first controlled opening of sorted discarded net or gear. The purpose is to reduce large tangled masses for washing, metal removal or a named secondary stage, not to claim finished granulate in one pass.

Where This Cutting Application Appears
Supplied feed and process stage
Identify the actual recovered gear rather than treating it as one polymer stream. Record net, line and rope construction; declared polymer; twine diameter; knot or braid; float, sinker, hook, cable and metal content; salt, sand, biological residue and moisture; collection method; and any prior sorting or washing. NOAA describes derelict gear as including synthetic nylon, polyethylene and polypropylene and documents collected nets being chopped in one recovery route; this does not define the customer feed or a MEIRENTE tool.
Installed process checkpoint
Record the largest tangle, free ends, feed restraint, attached gear and foreign-material removal; map rotor, counter-tool, shaft zones, reversal logic, discharge and the next process.
Output and inspection stage
Measure coarse output distribution and inspect uncut knots, long ropes, wrapping, metal strikes, retained floats or weights, moisture and stable discharge.
Pre-Shredding process boundary
Confirm that the feed form, actual machine operation and named downstream step match this process before reviewing a replacement tool.
Pre-Shredding setup checkpoint
Record feed preparation, foreign-material controls, installed interface and discharge before a controlled trial.
Pre-Shredding acceptance checkpoint
Use customer-approved size distribution and observable defect limits on labelled samples from the same feed lot and machine settings.
Define the Required Cut Result
- Report the full coarse-output distribution and remaining long pieces
- Record wrapping, bridging and manual-clearing events separately
- Document floats, weights, hooks, cable and other foreign materials found
- Confirm stable transfer to the named washing or secondary-cutting stage
Problems to Diagnose Before Changing the Knife
Long strands bridge the hopper or wrap shaft zones
Compare feed preparation, free-end control, cutter engagement, shaft protection and discharge before changing speed.
Hidden weights, hooks or cable reach the cutting chamber
Improve inspection and removal under the site procedure; record every strike separately from polymer cutting.
A tangled mass compresses but does not open
Review feed restraint, bite, cut sequence, counter-tool relationship and reversal logic.

Acceptance Criteria for a Controlled Trial
Agree how the trial will be judged before changing the knife or machine setting.

- Record wrapping, bridging and manual-clearing events separately
- Document floats, weights, hooks, cable and other foreign materials found
- Confirm stable transfer to the named washing or secondary-cutting stage
Knife Forms That May Be Considered
| Possible knife form | When it may be considered | What must be confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Existing low-speed pre-shred rotor and counter-knife set | For coarse opening in a documented machine. | Confirm rotor, seats, counter-tools, clearance, reversal, shaft protection and discharge. |
| Existing guillotine or controlled shear station | Only where bulky gear is restrained and presented safely before shredding. | Confirm support, stroke, protected zone, handling of free ends and clearing. |

Questions About This Cutting Application
Can a blade form be selected from the term “discarded fishing net” alone?
No. Confirm feed origin, construction, contamination, process stage, installed interface, current tool and accepted and rejected samples.
Is every recovered net a nylon feedstock?
No. The declared polymer, rope and attached components must be identified for the actual lot.
Does pre-shredding produce finished recycling flake?
Not necessarily. It prepares coarse feed for a documented downstream step.

Supplier pages describe their own materials or equipment; they do not establish a MEIRENTE blade specification or performance claim.
