Polyester Geogrid Transverse Cross Cutting Blades
Transverse cross cutting releases specified polyester geogrid lengths while preserving the project-defined orientation. Mark the strength direction and target cut line relative to aperture rows, then number consecutive pieces. Measure the released grid and inspect both ends; a complete-looking cut may still nick the retained bundle, disturb a junction or leave coating damage.

Where This Cutting Application Appears
Actual supplied workpiece
Identify the actual polyester geogrid construction, strength direction, aperture, yarn bundle and coating before trial. Maccaferri describes one Synteen example as high-tenacity multifilament polyester yarns woven into a stable network and PVC-coated; that example does not define every PET geogrid or a MEIRENTE knife specification.
Installed cutting setup
Record feed increment, grid datum, target line, restraint, full-width support, cross-cut stroke and piece collection.
Cut output and inspection stage
Measure released length and diagonals from the agreed grid datum; inspect both ends, retained bundles, junctions and coating before and after transfer.
Transverse Cross Cutting process boundary
These pages concern controlled factory conversion of supplied grid roll stock. They do not change the project reinforcement design, design strength, roll orientation, overlap or installation quality plan. Keep machine and cross-machine directions traceable on every sample.
Transverse Cross Cutting setup checkpoint
Mark material direction, retained sides and the construction-specific datum before the controlled trial.
Transverse Cross Cutting acceptance checkpoint
Approve a replacement only from the original tool, holder drawing and a controlled trial on the supplied grade.
Define the Required Cut Result
- Measure consecutive lengths and diagonals from the named grid datum
- Inspect both ends for full bundle separation, splay and coating loss
- Check retained junctions and aperture rows against the approved cut line
- Compare numbered pieces before and after transfer
Problems to Diagnose Before Changing the Knife
Released length changes by an aperture pitch
Check physical feed travel, grid tracking and which aperture row was used as the datum.
One retained bundle is only partly separated or splays
Check full-width stroke, local support and final contact at that row.
Pieces are square at release but skew after stacking
Compare numbered grids before and after transfer to isolate handling distortion.
polyester geogrid Transverse Cross Cutting Diagnostic
Separate supplied construction, material direction, installed contact and downstream handling before changing a knife form.

Acceptance Criteria for a Controlled Trial
Agree how the trial will be judged before changing the knife or machine setting.
- Measure consecutive lengths and diagonals from the named grid datum
- Inspect both ends for full bundle separation, splay and coating loss
- Check retained junctions and aperture rows against the approved cut line
- Compare numbered pieces before and after transfer
Knife Forms That May Be Considered
| Possible knife form | When it may be considered | What must be confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Supported straight cutoff | Only where the installed station supports the grid across its width and the approved line. | Verify blade, holder, counter-surface, stroke and both end samples. |
| Synchronized rotary cutoff | Only for an existing continuous-feed station designed for the specified grid pitch and roll width. | Verify timing, full separation and released dimensions over consecutive pieces. |

Questions About This Cutting Application
Can a knife be selected from the term polyester geogrid alone?
No. Confirm the exact grade, construction, material direction, installed equipment, original tool and measurable acceptance limits.
Why measure from a named grid datum?
It prevents aperture-row selection from being mistaken for feed-length error.
Is complete separation the only acceptance check?
No. Inspect the retained bundles, junctions, coating and released dimensions.
