Mulch Film Roll Slitting Blades
Use roll slitting when a wider parent roll is divided into two or more narrower mulch-film rolls. Define the retained lanes, winding pattern and roll-side orientation; cutting a sheet to length is a different operation.

Where This Cutting Application Appears
Supplied roll and construction
Confirm the supplied construction instead of assuming one generic polyethylene web: resin or approved biodegradable construction, layer count, colour and opacity, embossing, perforation, nominal thickness, width, roll direction and surface treatment. University extension sources describe plastic mulch as rolled sheet used over soil and distinguish colours and film properties; they do not define a customer roll or a MEIRENTE tool.
Installed process checkpoint
Map every cutter to a web-edge or centreline datum; record film orientation, tension zones, tracking, cutter pitch, support and rewind layout.
Output and inspection stage
Measure lane width across and along the roll, then inspect both edges, telescoping, blocking, wrinkles and edge curl after rewinding.
Roll Slitting process boundary
Confirm that the customer operation matches this process name, supplied roll state and approved drawing before evaluating a replacement tool.
Roll Slitting setup checkpoint
Record material direction, web conditioning, retained geometry, installed interface and downstream handling before a controlled trial.
Roll Slitting acceptance checkpoint
Use customer-approved dimensions and visible-defect limits on labelled samples from the same roll state and line settings.
Define the Required Cut Result
- Measure every lane from the approved web datum at mapped positions
- Inspect both slit edges for curl, neck-down, tear and fused material
- Record roll build, telescoping and blocking separately from cut geometry
- Repeat within the approved film state and web-tension window
Problems to Diagnose Before Changing the Knife
Lane width drifts along the roll
Compare web tracking, tension, roll wander, holder position and the selected datum.
A slit edge curls or necks down
Review local stretch, support, entry geometry and winding tension before changing the edge.
Adjacent rolls telescope or block
Separate slit quality from rewind alignment, tension and cling between layers.

Acceptance Criteria for a Controlled Trial
Agree how the trial will be judged before changing the knife or machine setting.

Knife Forms That May Be Considered
| Possible knife form | When it may be considered | What must be confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Existing shear or score-slitting set | For a line already designed around its documented support method. | Confirm shaft, holder, overlap or penetration, runout and rewind. |
| Existing razor or straight-edge slitter | Only where the actual film and machine safely support that method. | Confirm entry angle, exposure, support, debris control and guarding. |

- Approved film construction, resin or biodegradable designation, layer count and supplier datasheet
- Film thickness range, width, colour, opacity, embossing and any existing perforation
- Roll direction, treated side, print or registration marks and allowable knife-contact side
- Target geometry, datum, tolerances and accepted edge, hole or separation limits
- Existing machine, holder, shaft, anvil or counter-surface and interface drawings
- Web speed, tension, tracking, winding, static control and trim or matrix handling
- Current tool plus labelled accepted and rejected samples from the actual roll
- Trial quantity, inspection method, packing format and annual demand

Questions About This Cutting Application
Can a blade form be selected from the agricultural material name alone?
No. Confirm the supplied construction, roll state, cutting motion, installed interface, current tool and accepted and rejected samples.
Is roll slitting the same as edge trimming?
No. Slitting creates multiple retained lanes; trimming removes the outside margins.
Can nominal film thickness select the slitting method?
No. Construction, tension, support, winding and the installed interface also matter.
Public references and scope
These public sources provide material, cutting-method or safety context for this guide. Supplier pages describe their own materials or equipment; they do not establish a MEIRENTE blade specification or performance claim. Confirm the actual grade, machine setup and required cut with a drawing or sample.
