Coaxial Cable Jacket Profile Cutoff Blades
Use profile cutoff when a continuous jacket-only tube or approved extruded profile is separated into discrete pieces before cable assembly. If shield, dielectric or conductor is present, declare the full coaxial construction and treat it as a cable cut.

Where This Cutting Application Appears
Supplied material and process stage
Separate jacket-only extrusion from a completed coaxial cable. For a finished cable, record the outer jacket, braid and foil shields, dielectric and centre conductor, plus any armour or secondary jacket. For a jacket-only profile, record the polymer, wall geometry, extrusion and cooling state. CommScope describes coaxial construction with a centre conductor, polymer dielectric and foil/braid shielding, while Belden product data show that jacket, shield and insulation materials vary by cable design; neither source defines the customer cable or a MEIRENTE tool.
Installed process checkpoint
Record jacket polymer, profile drawing, wall and diameter variation, extrusion direction, supplied temperature, cooling and conditioning, line speed, feed index, support, clamp, blade motion and counter-surface.
Output and inspection stage
Measure conditioned length, end squareness, bore and outside profile; inspect collapse, flare, lip, whitening, cracking, incomplete separation and transfer marks.
Profile Cutoff process boundary
Confirm that the supplied construction, actual machine operation and approved drawing match this process before reviewing a replacement tool.
Profile Cutoff setup checkpoint
Record material condition, protected layers, installed interface and downstream handling before a controlled trial.
Profile Cutoff acceptance checkpoint
Use customer-approved dimensions and observable defect limits on labelled samples from the same material lot and machine settings.
Define the Required Cut Result
- Measure conditioned length at the approved time and temperature
- Check end squareness, bore and outside-profile geometry
- Inspect collapse, flare, whitening, cracking and complete separation
- Record transfer or stacking deformation separately from cutoff quality
Problems to Diagnose Before Changing the Knife
The jacket-only profile collapses or becomes oval
Compare material temperature, wall geometry, support, clamp pressure and blade entry.
One side flares or leaves an angled end
Review feed squareness, support, blade travel and counter-surface alignment.
Cut length changes as the extrusion cools
Record cooling and measurement timing separately from feed-index error.

Acceptance Criteria for a Controlled Trial
Agree how the trial will be judged before changing the knife or machine setting.

- Check end squareness, bore and outside-profile geometry
- Inspect collapse, flare, whitening, cracking and complete separation

Knife Forms That May Be Considered
| Possible knife form | When it may be considered | What must be confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Existing guillotine or reciprocating profile cutter | For a supported transverse stroke on a jacket-only extrusion. | Confirm holder, profile support, stroke, counter-surface and clearing. |
| Existing synchronized rotary cutoff | Only where the line controls cutter phase against the moving extrusion. | Confirm diameter, phase, speed ratio, runout, support and guarding. |

Questions About This Cutting Application
Can a blade form be selected from the term “coaxial cable jacket” alone?
No. Confirm the supplied construction, actual process stage, protected components, installed interface, current tool and accepted and rejected samples.
Is jacket-only profile cutoff the same as cutting finished coaxial cable?
No. Shield, dielectric and centre conductor create a different cutting object and acceptance plan.
Can hot-extrusion results be compared with conditioned jacket pieces?
Only when temperature, cooling history and measurement timing are recorded.
