Coaxial Cable Jacket End Trimming Blades
Use end trimming as a secondary finishing cut on an already cut jacket profile or declared coaxial cable. Define the small removed allowance and finished end; continuous production cutoff and connector-preparation stripping are different operations.

Where This Cutting Application Appears
Supplied material and process stage
Separate jacket-only extrusion from a completed coaxial cable. For a finished cable, record the outer jacket, braid and foil shields, dielectric and centre conductor, plus any armour or secondary jacket. For a jacket-only profile, record the polymer, wall geometry, extrusion and cooling state. CommScope describes coaxial construction with a centre conductor, polymer dielectric and foil/braid shielding, while Belden product data show that jacket, shield and insulation materials vary by cable design; neither source defines the customer cable or a MEIRENTE tool.
Installed process checkpoint
Record incoming end, trim allowance, datum, full layer stack, clamp and near-end support, blade travel, counter-surface, chip or ring removal and final inspection.
Output and inspection stage
Measure final length and end geometry; inspect residual lip, angled face, jacket compression, braid or foil pullback, dielectric collapse, conductor contact and incomplete trim debris.
End Trimming process boundary
Confirm that the supplied construction, actual machine operation and approved drawing match this process before reviewing a replacement tool.
End Trimming setup checkpoint
Record material condition, protected layers, installed interface and downstream handling before a controlled trial.
End Trimming acceptance checkpoint
Use customer-approved dimensions and observable defect limits on labelled samples from the same material lot and machine settings.
Define the Required Cut Result
- Measure final length and removed allowance from the approved datum
- Check end squareness, jacket lip and outside geometry
- Inspect braid, foil, dielectric and centre conductor separately
- Verify complete collection of trim debris using the customer-approved method
Problems to Diagnose Before Changing the Knife
A small trim allowance bends instead of separating
Review near-end support, clamp position, cable state, allowance and blade entry.
The jacket face is square but shield strands pull or protrude
Inspect blade action, support, shield construction and full-circumference separation.
The dielectric or centre conductor is marked during finishing
Verify the intended cut plane, layer support and customer-protected limits.

Acceptance Criteria for a Controlled Trial
Agree how the trial will be judged before changing the knife or machine setting.
- Measure final length and removed allowance from the approved datum
- Check end squareness, jacket lip and outside geometry
- Inspect braid, foil, dielectric and centre conductor separately
- Verify complete collection of trim debris using the customer-approved method
Knife Forms That May Be Considered
| Possible knife form | When it may be considered | What must be confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Existing supported end-trim blade | For a secondary transverse stroke with a controlled cable-end allowance. | Confirm holder, support distance, stroke, counter-surface and debris clearing. |
| Existing rotary end-trim or facing arrangement | Only where the machine controls circumferential path through the declared construction. | Confirm concentric support, path, depth, debris control and conductor handling. |

Questions About This Cutting Application
Can a blade form be selected from the term “coaxial cable jacket” alone?
No. Confirm the supplied construction, actual process stage, protected components, installed interface, current tool and accepted and rejected samples.
Is coaxial cable end trimming the same as connector preparation?
No. Connector preparation may strip layers to controlled lengths and requires a separate feature drawing and depth plan.
Does this operation require a circular slitter blade?
Not by assumption. The existing machine motion, holder and original tool determine the knife form.
