Vacuum Insulation Panel Envelope Profile Cutting Blades
Profile cutting applies only when an approved envelope design requires a shaped laminate blank before evacuation and sealing. Use the actual CAD contour, seal allowance and minimum radius; do not cut a completed evacuated panel. Inspect the retained blank before and after offcut removal because a sound-looking contour can still contain a bridge or damaged barrier layer at a tight feature.

Where This Cutting Application Appears
Actual supplied workpiece
Confirm whether the supplied workpiece is roll-form VIP barrier laminate, a preformed unsealed envelope or another approved construction. Avery Dennison Hanita describes several metallized and foil laminate forms with heat-seal layers; that range is evidence that the exact layer stack must be identified, not a universal MEIRENTE specification.
Installed cutting setup
Record CAD contour, registration datum, seal allowance, minimum radius, support, tool path and offcut-removal direction.
Cut output and inspection stage
Measure the released contour and registration, then inspect layer integrity and the future seal area at every tight feature.
Profile Cutting process boundary
These pages concern cutting envelope material before evacuation and final sealing. Do not cut a completed evacuated panel: damage to its gas-tight envelope can cause loss of vacuum. Record the laminate supplier, grade, seal side, barrier side and supplied state.
Profile Cutting setup checkpoint
Mark retained sides, functional surfaces and downstream seal or seam zones before the controlled trial.
Profile Cutting acceptance checkpoint
Approve a replacement only from the original tool, holder drawing and a controlled trial on the supplied grade.
Define the Required Cut Result
- Measure released contour, registration and critical radii against CAD
- Count bridges at every named narrow feature
- Inspect barrier and heat-seal layers at corners and direction changes
- Compare the retained blank before and after offcut removal
Problems to Diagnose Before Changing the Knife
A bridge repeats at the same inside radius
Check local support, path closure and installed tool reach at that feature.
Barrier layer lifts only at a direction change
Compare tool direction, laminate orientation and contact at the same corner.
Retained blank tears during offcut removal
Inspect the blank before extraction and review bridge geometry and removal direction.

Acceptance Criteria for a Controlled Trial
Agree how the trial will be judged before changing the knife or machine setting.

Knife Forms That May Be Considered
| Possible knife form | When it may be considered | What must be confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Installed guided contour knife | Only where the existing machine can support the laminate and follow the approved radius. | Confirm mounting, path, seal allowance and retained blank sample. |
| Matched shaped cutting tool | Only if an installed fixture and counter-surface are designed for the approved envelope blank. | Verify critical-feature clearance and extraction; do not assume a universal rotary die. |

Questions About This Cutting Application
Can a knife be selected from the term vacuum-insulation-panel barrier envelope laminate alone?
No. Confirm the exact grade, installed equipment, original tool and measurable acceptance limits.
Can a completed VIP be profile cut?
No. This guide is limited to approved envelope material before evacuation and final sealing.
Does every shaped blank require a rotary die?
No. The installed machine, fixture and approved contour determine the feasible tool.
