Glass Wool Blanket Sheet Slitting Blades
Longitudinal slitting separates supplied glass-wool blanket into narrower lanes. Identify whether a facing is present, mark fiber and feed direction, and compare lane width under support with its width after agreed relaxation. A clean cut line does not prove the blanket or any facing remained intact.

Where This Cutting Application Appears
Actual supplied workpiece
Confirm the supplied glass-wool blanket grade, nominal and recovered thickness, density, binder and whether it is faced or unfaced. Owens Corning shows both faced and unfaced examples; its construction is not a universal MEIRENTE specification.
Installed cutting setup
Record uncompressed width, support, feed, slitter station, facing orientation and dust-control procedure.
Cut output and inspection stage
Inspect both slit faces, any facing bond and lane dimensions after the approved relaxation stage.
Sheet Slitting process boundary
These pages concern blanket conversion, not glass-fiber fabric, rigid board or certification of an insulation assembly. Compare dimensions after the agreed relaxation stage, not only while the blanket is compressed under the cutter.
Sheet Slitting setup checkpoint
Compare marked accepted and rejected samples from the same supplied grade, machine and inspection stage.
Sheet Slitting acceptance checkpoint
Approve knife geometry only from the original blade, holder drawing and controlled sample trial.
Define the Required Cut Result
- Measure lane width after the agreed recovery interval
- Inspect both wool cut faces for drag and loose fiber
- Check any facing bond at each retained edge
- Compare lane transport and dust collection with the approved sample
Problems to Diagnose Before Changing the Knife
Lane width changes after leaving the support
Compare compressed at-cut measurement with relaxed width and feed guidance.
Loose fibers trail one cut face
Review local support and installed knife contact on both sides.
Facing stays cut but lifts from one edge
Inspect actual facing bond and contact path separately from the wool cut.
A later material lot cuts differently
Compare actual grade, surface or facing, incoming condition and recovery before assigning the difference to fiber drag, local compression or facing separation.
glass-wool insulation blanket Sheet Slitting Diagnostic
Check material identity, feed and support, blade contact and post-cut handling in that order; do not infer a standard replacement from the workpiece name.
Acceptance Criteria for a Controlled Trial
Agree how the trial will be judged before changing the knife or machine setting.
- Measure lane width after the agreed recovery interval
- Inspect both wool cut faces for drag and loose fiber
- Check any facing bond at each retained edge
- Compare lane transport and dust collection with the approved sample
Knife Forms That May Be Considered
| Possible knife form | When it may be considered | What must be confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Installed guided longitudinal knife | Only after matching the existing holder and blanket support. | Confirm exposed edge, travel direction and both-face samples. |
| Matched rotary shear assembly | Only if the actual machine has a supported shear station suited to the supplied thickness. | Confirm pair geometry and facing behavior; not a default replacement. |
Information to Send for Technical Review
You do not need to know the exact blade name. Send the available workpiece, machine, current-knife and cut-result information so the application can be reviewed against a drawing or sample.
- Exact blanket grade, density, nominal and recovered thickness
- Facing type and bond, or confirmation of unfaced supply
- Incoming width and target lane dimensions
- Support, feed, cutter and collection drawings
- Installed knife and holder dimensions
- Marked good and rejected cut-face samples
- Width, fiber and facing acceptance limits
- Trial length, relaxation stage and quantity

Questions About This Cutting Application
Can a knife be chosen from the term glass-wool insulation blanket alone?
No. Confirm the supplied grade, installed equipment, original tool and approved samples.
Is every glass-wool blanket faced?
No. Confirm the supplied grade.
When should width be measured?
Use the agreed stage after compression recovery.

These public sources provide material, cutting-method or safety context for this guide. Supplier pages describe their own materials or equipment; they do not establish a MEIRENTE blade specification or performance claim.
